How to Install Life360 on Samsung Devices

For a wide variety of reasons, Life360 is one of the best location tracking apps on the market. Primarily, it’s a family tracking app, meaning that it focuses on making sure that you can keep an eye on your family members at all times. All you are a smartphone, network (with GPS location turned on), and Life360.

Installing this app on Samsung devices is fairly easy and straightforward. That said, setting it up properly, for yourself and for your kids, is a bit more complicated.

Installing the App

First and foremost, you should make sure that you have enough space on your phone for Life360. Although the app “weighs” only 34.56 MB for Android phones, make sure that you have at least 100 MB of space available on your device.

Life360 is an app available on the default Android’s store app. In order to find, download, and install this great app, simply enter the Google Play store by tapping on the appropriate icon on your phone’s home screen and type “Life360” into the search box. You’ll see a list of available apps. Life360 should appear as the first search result. Now, tap Download & Install and let the Google Play app sort this all out for you.

Basic Setup

After the process is done (and make sure that you stay connected to the internet while installing the app), go to your home screen and tap the Life360 icon. This app comes with a variety of great features but, for now, let’s stick with the basic setup.

To use the app and create a circle for your family/friends, you’ll need to register your account. The required info here includes your name, phone number, your email address, and a strong password.

Adding New Members

Once you’re done, you’ll see a map and your current circle. By default, you’ll be alone here, being able to see only your own location. To start using Life360, you’re going to need to add new members. To do this, navigate to the bottom of the screen. Here, you’ll either see a + icon, or the Invite New Members option. Tap it. Now, you’ll see the generated invite code that you’ll need to send to a family member or friend in order for them to gain access to your circle.

You’ll also see a Send Code option that will prompt you to choose the method of sending when tapped. Once you’ve chosen the method, enter the recipient’s phone number. Now, simply tap Send.

Joining a Circle

To become a part of the circle, the recipient that has received a message containing the unique code is going to have to perform a few actions. Simply access the message sent from the circle’s creator. Follow the available link on your Samsung phone to download and install the Life360 app, or use the tutorial outlined above.

Once the app is downloaded and installed, sign up for a new account by providing your name, phone number, and email address. Then, when prompted, enter the aforementioned code by copying it and phttps://www.novodasoftware.com/asting it into the appropriate field.

That’s it! Both the user who has joined the circle and the circle creator can now see each other’s respective locations. The circle creator is, of course, admin by default, although this can be changed.

Advanced Setup

Life360 packs quite a punch, feature-wise. It brings many options to the table, some of which (mostly from the app’s paid version) transcend the typical location tracking features.

For one, there is a Check-in option that allows the user to notify everyone else in their circle that they’ve arrived at a location. This is typically used by children to let their parents know that they’ve arrived somewhere safely. The Check-in option might always be only a few clicks away, but it doesn’t allow the user to merely select a random location. It prompts them to select a location within the reasonable area of their own GPS coordinates.

The Check-in option, however, largely depends on how responsible the person in question is. That’s why there’s a Places feature available that allows users to create frequently-visited places (school, gym, kindergarten, office, etc.). Every time a user enters one of these locations, everyone else in the circle is notified. To set up a Place, go to the in-app menu, navigate to Places, and tap Add Place. Now, either enter the location’s address or use the map to navigate to it. Name the location and select Save to finish.

Installing the Widget

Samsung phones are using the Android OS, which is iOS’s direct competitor. Whether one is better than the other is up for debate, but if there’s one thing that Android devices have an advantage with, it’s the widgets option.

Life360 comes with a cool widget that will make the whole app more accessible and much more convenient to use. To install the Life360 widget, press an empty part of your Home screen and hold it down with your finger. From the menu that pops up, select Widgets. Now, scroll until you’ve found the Life360 widget and select it.

Additional Features

One of the main things that set Life360 apart, when compared to similar apps is the amount of information provided regarding your circle members. First of all, you get to see everyone’s battery levels, at all times. If you’re experiencing network problems, that’s exactly what the app will show. If you’ve turned your phone off, the app will tell the other users that it’s off, rather than just showing it as “offline”.

There are many more fantastic features available with the paid version of the app that you should definitely check out.

Samsung and Life360

Samsung devices are a perfect match for this brilliant location tracking app. When compared to using the iOS version, the Android alternative brings a great widget to the table, meaning that Samsung users get quite the upper hand here.
